This song jerks me on tears so far.

I'd forgotten all about this song! It was quite groundbreaking for the time. And it showed that there was more to the Rubettes than all that sugar baby love malarkey

i hear you musicfreak1967 i am the same it's such a haunting melody. And it's true it's still going on now it's so sad

Used to think this and The killing of Georgie sounded similar without realising they were both the same subject, I was just 14 then

Great stuff. As I struggled with my first marriage and subsequently my work in 1976, this
song gave me the impetus to cry and carry on. I am 60 now. This is quite poignant, but I
can remember "Under One Roof" as a steeling point in my life. A couple of years earlier,
The Rubettes were same bubblegum pop as Bay City rollers, Glitter Band,& cheesy pop
of the time.Sugar Baby Love, Juke Box Jive, etc. They matured in 2 years as I did then
made records such as this. Where are they now? I Love
I remember going into Woolies to buy this for a friend, because he was too scared to buy it for himself. So sad to think that this song hasn't dated much & there are still lads out there today, who are just as scared as my friend was thirty-four years ago.
Thank you for uploading this x x

If I hear this song of the Rubettes, I get creeps and tears in the eyes. At that time the text was very courageous, because love among same-sexual counted as a taboo topic and is sadly still today an occasion for many to tip out mockery about homosexual. I write this as a heterosexual who is for the fact that homosexuality should be tolerated, finally, everywhere, because, nevertheless, the central issue is fine that one becomes happy together. Lots of love from Germany.
