Good God, I never knew John Martyn and his music and he's older here. The song is 30 yrs old, his performance of it here just breaks my heart and I'm crying my eyes out as I write this. Thanks John, sorry I never knew you. Thanks Shivering for posting this. Damn!

this is so touching

Obvioiusly he spent time all over Britain during his life and in this interview he has a thick Scottish Glaswegian accent, now type in "John Martyn backstage MOJO interview" he is of a a similar age and hasn't got a trace of Scotts in his voice. CRAZZZZY!

It was a 6 part series from BBC Scotland called Scotland's Music With Phil Cunningham.
There are bits and pieces of it on You Tube, but JM only appeared on this clip.

It's hilarious, his accent was from London, I can't tell to what extent he's taking the piss :)

@mctribble im sorry but music has no colour bar, the guy was a great musician regardless of colour...colour does not come into it.

@packoftwenty Who are you then big man? What have you done for us? Where can I find your tunes that 'deal with the suffering of others'? I'd love to hear them...
John's songs offer solace to innumerable people who've once been, or still are, right where he was - and have done for almost half a century. I suggest you come out from your white picket fenced garden and join us in the real world - if you can call John Martyn pathetic then you really don't have a clue.
Put up or shut up.
