@freakiq we can two meanings to the universe: everything that exists, everything physical that exists. in the first case this does not change my argument. my argument is not that if there is a first cause there must be God, but rather that if God exists, God must be a first cause.

I think you mean everything everything physical exists and it seems youre taking the possibility of a casual chain that is infinite in length. I accept that as a possibility.

This gives us a simpler, more plausible equation by removing causation altogether.

@freakiq we usually think of God as eternal. now suppose God was caused. then there was was a moment in time in which God was cause. therefore God is not eternal. this is a contradicion if we assume God is eternal and leads us to the conclusion: God is a first cause.
