  • This is my last post.I wish you well.chard99999 Is the friend of a rodent Mockingbird his comment has nothing to do with interest in songbirds. This mentality is the main reason i am packing it in. good luck, good health, God bless.Regards, wisfull.

  • It is still a beautiful sounding bird. Thanks

  • Well technically a Mockingbird is a type of thrush.

  • A Canadian University team studying a number of North American Robins lists sensory modalities visual, auditory, olfactory and possibly vibrotactile [sic].The latter i take to mean the slight vibration in the earth as the worm moves.Obviously sight is by far the most important but supplementary abilities should hold no great surprise.Yet detection by smell/ sound had occurred to me,i dismissed as to far fetched.Live and learn as they say. Regards wisfull.

  • Blackbirds eyesight 20X superior to humans So i am informed .book closed,How then do they turf up small amounts of soil and grass for that not in sight!. Perhaps my perception is at fault,Detection by vibration is possible. The definitive books have not been written. All mainstream views change with time and circumstance. Some small dinosaurs evolving into birds.Continental drift, Expanding Universe, ext such views were regarded as eccentric not so long ago,These views will be amended.Regards, W.

  • ADDENDUM. Apology for omission, of intensifying words [ very. closely.] It should read, They are surely very closely related. Regards, wisfull,

  • I appreciate the trouble you went to. Thank you, For This. wisfull.

  • The Thrush,Has to have near perfect timing to breed, The Blackbird male/female have lost a little of their territorial aggression and are slightly tired, from their first brood, otherwise they would chase him from the area,One or two earlier attempts,at claiming the territory, are in human terms, a forlorn hope, but for us prolong the song, and our enjoyment,It is the similarities, rather than differences that cause the conflict Rather like rivalries within families. They are surely related.wisfull.
