guessing 9 characters is leagues easier than guessing 24 character password....
basically if someone were to try 1 password per second they wouldnt finish in their lifetime or their childrens lifetime...
comes to 7.68e+35 attempts not even counting the number... seriously a much more secure password.

It's a great method for the "master password". The unanswered question is: how do I manage a few dozen of Web accounts than an individual must maintain?
One of the methods to solve conflicting requirements of security and usability is to use tools, such as the one at Calculated Passwords, that achieve the simplicity without sacrificing security. You would use the strong master password selected as you recommend but the tool will customize it for each target Web site.

someone actually got into my mln account because my password was so weak. i never thought anyone would bother but they do.
they mailed away my mailable items and made like 20 trade modules just to waste my bricks.
