@4thstooge Some countries don't have a residency requirement for the performers of the songs. So you will find that Celine Dion(a Canadian) is able to perform for Switzerland.

I thought Eurovision was for European performers, How come it included entry's from Australia (olivia Newton-John) & another entry from Israel Neither country is a European nation.

Obviously the two titans of this year are ABBA and Gigliola - rightly in the top two slots (though I myself would still put "Si" ahead of "Waterloo". But the song that really does it for me is the Yugoslav song. I mean, obviously you have to shut your eyes so you don't see the outfits, but otherwise it's great. The same is true for the Netherlands. Elsewhere, Finland and Norway did very badly with quite nice songs, and Ireen Sheer didn't even attempt the accent.

A good winner of course ( they were the

ABBA ....) but in my opinion not the

rightful one : " Si " was a more beautiful

and a better song. Italy deserved the victory in 1974

The swedish band is ABBA (in 1973 they was called "Björn, Benny, Anna/Agnetha & Frida"). They released every year one album from 1973 until 1981 (as far as I remember).

Thank you for this summary! I saw a part of it LIVE in 1974, but missed ABBA waiting on Björn, Benny, Anna & Frida. I did not know that they now was called ABBA! I recorded by microphone a lot and went away without Waterloo!

Therefore the order of the songs in this video cannot be correct as far as I remember!

OK, a debut of Greece, a triumph of Sweden and a good contest. 1pt to Norway 2pts to Netherlands 3pts Ireland 4pts Spain (first I thought it's Turkey) 5pts Finland 6pts Israel 7pts Greece 8 pts to Yugoslavia - the best Yugo song 10 pts to Belgium - maybe even a moral winner 12 pts to Italy and One Million to Sweden...
