Here is a video of the opening sequence from the 1973 ABC Sunday night mystery movie of the week, WINE, WOMEN AND WAR, the Six Million Dollar Man. Song is by Dusty Springfield. This is from the very first movie, before it became a series. Enjoy.
@RogueFTW No, I think you're right! In the episode "Rudy Wells is missing", Steve (running bionically), is being chased by some bad guys in a car in Austria when one of them says "He's doing better than sixty!!" So, I think Steve could most likely do much faster than that if he chose to.
I heard the TV series is finally coming to DVD - does anyone knows if the pilot movie and the other films that aired before the series debut will be coming out as well?
Am I the only person that remembers the scientists saying that Steve could run 60 MPH "without breathing hard."? Which implies that 60 MPH isn't his top speed....
I watched the pilot and the early TV movies when they first aired. As horrid as that theme song is, I still remember it after all these years. It was so clear in my memory that I had to see if someone else on Youtube remembered it as well. Thanks (I think) for posting it. :-)
I remember that rare "other" opening. It was the only time in the entire series where the opening showed Steve in his USAF Uniform and also had a siren to indicate he crashed. I believe it was in Season 3.
"The Moon & The Desert" wasn't created until the last season as a cheap way to fulfill episode contractual agreements as the series ended. It was based on the rarely seen actual 1st movie (90 minutes, as all 3 first movies were), simply called "Cyborg" which had no opening at all but for a 1960's computer monitor with the sound of 1960's keys as text about "CYBORG" appeared on the screen. To fill these out to 120 minutes, fill cuts from other episodes were used. They look best at 90 min.
In one of the opening season episodes, probably 2 or 3, they only showed once a rare alteration when the "official" image of USAF-uniformed Steve Austin came from the cloud of the crash. Still looking for that one. They never used it again, and went with the longer opening replacing the Season 1 shorter version - the one that followed this one.
