"...these are a series of clichés..." - I remember laughing harder at this than almost anything in my life. We miss you, Spike. Utterly unique.

@sparkygl0s Shortly afterward, Spike sent a fax to the Prince, which said "I supposed a knighthood is out of the question?" Fortunately, HRH loved Spike's humor and was a close friend, and an honorary KBE was bestowed on Spike (since Spike had Irish citizenship)

well the truth is spike milligan was not british in fact he held an irish passport his father was born in sligo town ,spike did how ever serve in the british army and was refused a british passport in 1960 and ireland gave him his natural right to be irish because of his bloodline but in any case the legend will remain one of the funnest people ever and a irish poet among the best may he forever rest in peace

Sometimes it only takes a handful of words to make the entire room lose it.

RIP Spike.

The world without Spike is a very sad and depressing place to be indeed.

Anyone sitting down when he took the stage should be flogged. The contribution Spike Milligan made to the world of comedy, the British character and the WORLD in general is incalculable. And the personal cost for that brilliance, staggering and brutal. A true genius and the funniest man of the 20th Century. Bravo Spike. Bravo. RIP.
