So... you folks that grew up in the 60's and 70's swear on your vinyl, eh? Say the old way's the best way? Vinyl's nothing compared to Diamond Discs.
A Diamond Disc weighs a little over half a pound and is about a quarter inch thick. The Diamond Disc Player by the Edison Company (yes, THAT Edison!) is the only contraption to play these, and it will not play any other discs. Diamond Discs work like the more "modern" vinyl records compared to their counterparts in that they bob up and down rather than side to side.
We got this from a guy my dad knew well. He gave us an impressive collection of discs as well as the player. We haven't done a thing to the player- it works just as it did back in 1912 when it was made.
The discs were kind of musty, but of the clean ones we found, we only recognized this Southern blend and a recording of snippets of the opera Carmen.
Enjoy!
Diamond Discs rock!
