For some reason my new kitten and older cat have become fast friends within a week. Maybe it's because my cats are sisters from different litters or they had a very good home to come from, but as I type no hissing, spitting or fighting. They eat out of the same bowl and generally sleep in the same areas. Ah kitty bliss.

It's much easier to add a kitten to a house with an older cat than it is to add another adult cat. The resident cat is not threatened by the kitten and will teach the little one how to behave. Some people think that the cats should be the same sex, but, if they're spayed/neutered, it usually makes no difference.
