How do you like the quality on the EWG? Do you think its up to par with Tial?

It sounds like that because it is being controlled by a duty cycled boost solenoid. Its perfectly normal.

No. After a bunch of problems with leaking diaphragms and gaskets, I switched to a Tial 44mm v-band and haven't had any issues since.
