Veselaya Karusel episode 16 (Chudo Derevo)

This is one of the weirdest and coolest animations I've ever seen. It is an episode of a strange Soviet cartoon called Veselaya Karusel which was produced between 1968 and 1973.

This episode is over-the-top bizarre and leads me to believe that Comrade Animator was taking enormous quantities of LSD. It just gets weirder and weirder.

It is apparently about some kind of magic tree that grows things for the people. I dont know the word for word meanings of this since I don't speak Russian and only was given a quick summary.

It doesn't matter though, because even knowing the words won't help you make sense of this. I think to make sense of it, you'll need to be very very high.

It is utterly awesome.

This cartoon is based on a poem by Cornei Chukovsky. The poem is symbolical. The guy in the beginning, with the crow sitting on his nose, is lazy. So lazy, in fact, that he's too lazy to scare the crow off of his own nose.

Then, a bunch of happy, beautiful, and labour-loving Soviet citizens start planting stuff. The patches have candy growing on them, and the Wonder-Tree has all the family needs growing on it.
