@2489hbradley Richard Harris's Dumbledore would quickly walk towards Voldemort, with a calm expression on his face, and would lightly flick his wrist for each spell. Voldemort would barely be able to keep up, and Dumbledore would appear calm. That's how it was in the book, but in the movie, Gambon was having trouble keeping up with Voldey. The movie battle was awful compared to the book. I believe Harris would have been amazing

I love the music every time Michael Gambon comes up on the screen XD

Dylan Saunders was always my favourite Dumbledore, anyway. I think they should've just gone ahead and cast him in the films. Maybe add a song, a little dance number with Umbridge and put a kickass Zefron poster in his office.
Yes sir, you're the one professor that I'd want detention from.

I've tried to explain this to my family but they don't get it. Though I'm the only one who reads the books obsessively it should be obvious to anyone that something is seriously wrong with Gambon's performance. But they're probably just ignoring me because of my constant whining. I was always disappointed with the films and watch them only to complain.
(After every film I go, "I won't start on the mistakes they made, but ..." and everyone groans. And then when mum does it with LotR I get angry.)

@DarkRage195 The only time I recall Dumbledore EVER yelling was in the sixth book, when he said, "KILL ME!" And even then, it was the potion talking, not him.

Harris was great, i agree, but Gabon is more enrgic, bohemian and there are sometimes where he shows kind, he is not always angry. Appart some eccentricities that are missing in the movies, Gambon shows some of them instead of Harris, but he died, so there is nothing left to do :( If he just where younger
So...the books made Dumbledore this way. J.K. Rowling wrote it in that Dumbledore yells, yet you take it out on the actor? Where the hell does your logic come from?

@DarkRage195 lol, wait, what? Dude, if you compare these scenes to the book, they are NOTHING alike. Dumbledore never yells in the book. Compare these scenes to the book and you'll find that J.K. wrote Dumbledore very differently than we see with Michael Gambon.

As much as I used to have a petulant gut-reaction of hating Gambon for all this, I realize after more level-headed thinking that it's really the *production* decisionmakers I should be hating. Especially the casting department, who originally made the mistake. When someone tries to force a square peg into a round hole, you don't blame the peg, but the idiot pushing it. As much as he SUCKS in this role, Gambon was really just an ignorant actor showing up for a job.

@scarabmango true, but Gambon played a significant part in the butchering of the character. You can blame costuming, script, directing, or anything you want, Gambon is the easiest thing to point to, lol. Check out my Dumbledore Review 2, if you'd like. ;)

@Kachukeland Already been there. In fact, you replied to one or two comments of mine there. Anyway, I quite agree that he's partly to blame for butchering the character; it's just that he never set out to do so. In addition to not looking/sounding/having mannerisms like Dumbledore, he never had a frame of reference to correct any of this because he read no books. Gambon's "sins" are more those of omission than commission; he never took this part seriously enough to research it *at all.*
