VING RHAMES IS A BEAST... BLACK WHITE OR GREEN HES A GREAT FUCKIN ACTOR... BUT HELL ALWAYS BE MARCELLUS WALLACE TO ME!
-
@Lashid4u Oh, please - when Lemmon said "I WILL get this back to you" - he meant it. That award is at Ving's house, I assure you. What if the roles had been reversed? If Lemmon had given his to Rhames I guess you would say that he was belittling the poor black guy & giving him "charity" that he should have won in the first place. I thought Rhames meant well but it wasn't appropriate. Jack Lemmon was gracious but you could see he felt so awkward, like, "somebody get me out of this!"

This is the first time I have seen this clip since seeing that show live on air in 1998 and I remember it like it was yesterday. That was a very nice gesture on the part of Ving Rhames - but I believe that as much as he appreciated it, Jack Lemmon was a bit lost as to what to do. I think lots of people laughed at Rhames for that, and some said that Jack Lemmon did not need his "charity". I guess it depends on the way you look at it; and WHY does everything have to be about RACE, commenters?

Snape has not aged a bit!

so this is what Marsellus Wallace looks like...

@LordIam1 I wonder if you'd have the guts to make such a filthy, offensive, presumptuous comment to Mr. Rhames' face. I sincerely doubt it. This is simply a fine actor affording a legendary actor a due he felt he deserved. It's self-loathing people like you who keep racism alive.
Oh, and it's giving not "given", and not "nad", vein, not "vain", generosity, not "generousity", philanthropy, not "philantropy", and Ignorant Racist, not Malik Jubal.

So shines a good deed in a whiry world...
Pay attention, kids. This is what you call a class act.

The single classiest thing I have ever seen an actor do at an awards ceremony, hands down..
