@melhiebert Hi! that was 6 months ago that you asked, but the answer is that you can do machine quilting on pretty much any sewing machine, just use the darning function, with the "darning" foot. You drop the "feed dogs" so that they don't pull the fabric under the needle in the normal way to stitch seams, etc., and then you can move in any direction, which allows you to create any design you want on your quilt.
