  • nice tip

  • Oh also... shouldn't you re-execute the .bashrc file? So the command will be executed? Because I don't think restarting Firefox will automatically execute the .bashrc file. You'd have to logout and log back in, or source ~/.bashrc in the terminal to do that.

  • Thanks! :)

  • First of all, for a change in .bashrc to take effect you need to logout and relogin. Pango uses dynamic modules for complex scripts, so it should not slow down Firefox if you are viewing plain English pages. The problem appears to be elsewhere and not related to Pango. Google for Pango and Firefox for similar discussions, explanations.

  • i dont see what you guys find in mint.. i first used ubuntu, and the installation was straight forward. the menu is much more simple.

besides, mint is just a ripoff from ubuntu with a different desktop and a green wallpaper. you can make ubuntu look exactly the same if you like that 'windows' look.

  • I can't find that Pango thing

  • Thanks a lot keep up the good work...cuz of you i'm Now a Linux power user!!!!

  • Thanks for the tip. I would have never realized that Pango could slow down Firefox... I wonder what it uses instead if it's not going to use Pango.

  • Hey I created a .bashrc with just the command. It seems to work.
