  • basically take a grip that means when you are standing holding the bar at arms length the bar will rest on your hip strike area

  • Try doing an overhead squat with a clean grip ;)

  • There is no reason to suggest a 5 inch distance from head to bar, the only reason lifters choose a wide grip is so that the bar does not have to be displaced vertically as far, allowing them to lift more weight. Some coaches advocate performing snatches with a clean grip, including Mike Boyle.

  • The bar is should only be about 5 inches from your head at the end of the lift, try taking a wider grip.
