Total Training for Fireworks CS5 begins by teaching you the foundations of Fireworks and will quickly show you how to create vector shapes and design a logo. You will also learn to work with text, bitmaps and layers before moving onto creating interactive buttons using slices, hot spots and rollovers.
Finally, you will explore wireframing, RIA, AIR and mobile prototyping and how Fireworks allows you to design in multiple pages and even export standards compliant CSS.

If instead of saying "Uh, then you erm...do this uh..." While the mouse fiddles around as they think and speak, wouldn't be more efficient to decide on what you want to go over and how first, then choose how you want to approach and discuss it, and finally then record the process in time with it? Odd to hear someone complaining about professional quality tutorials for free.

  • @2minutegardener

She in fact does. It's part of the Adobe Creative Suite. It also says that on the home screen/launch screen.

Not that one couldn't google it.

  • I was expecting her to start repeating "Two Weeks" and then she takes off her head and it's Arnold Schwarzenegger.

  • You don't say what fireworks is! What is it?

  • And please have some structure in the next edition. Running through the menu items with a brief explanation is what the manual is for. I humbly suggest you think of a project that would work from start to finish and stick with that. After spending an hour masking a squirrel (something perhaps better done in PS anyway) I had so many questions about WHEN something would be used (not just the throwaway comments) as well as what that something was. Sorry to seem critical but I found it frustrating.

  • Dee. Thank you for the tutorial. You are obviously an expert in things CS and I did the tute in a single day. I do, however, have some comments.

I am a fairly skilled IT professional but have recently moved over to the dark side of content creation. I found that the tutorial veered from so simplistic that I wanted to cry (ctrl/cmd-N for new document - really?) to mystifying. Not having extended experience with Flex I struggled to understand much of what you were saying.
