I want to thank Clint @ Lazy Game Reviews, check his page out @ http://www.youtube.com/user/phreakindee. He did a quick bit on also how to do this on his Commodore 64 review as well.

So I just wanted to show you how easy it is to transfer a TAP file using AudioTap and getting the information on a audio cassette to use and play Commodore 64 games on. Enjoy!

  • So in order for this to work your tape recorder must have male to male input. I tried this using an ipod and it failed miserably. I think my Vic 20 doesn't like car audio cassette adapters.

  • @summer20105707 - a male to male input cord should do the trick for this.

  • ***********what do you do to connect the cassette player to the PC?

  • @ComradeZX - A basic male to male headphone chord that you can find at any Radio Shack or online.

  • @OldSchoolNYCGamer

Just tried it but failed. here is my set up,

i connect male to male headphone lead to casette player and used audio tap to transfer the same game you used in the video (pole postion.tap)

then once loaded i put the casette in my datasette and load onto c64 (load "")

the tape plays but the c64 comes up with ready on screen half way through loading and appears to reset.

    what should i do??

  • @ComradeZX - You might have to redo the process again and try some other games if possible if you are doing the same process as I did. You can find almost all the C64 TAP files online.

  • No need to type LOAD or RUN, just press Shift and Run/Stop together.

  • It would try it, but I don't have a Commodore64 or any other 8-bit computer.

  • 1/8"-1/8" = usb 0.1

  • @gabriel1989tanger - Turn off the C64, turn it back on. When it goes back to the main screen type in LOAD the press enter

After that it will it will say press PLAY ON TAPE and once you do that with your commodore tape player you should be fine.
