My students uploaded a great 3-person-voiced rendition of a Marge Piercy poem, and then another one of Anne Sexton's poem, "The Black Art." I was inspired to record this video of me reading one of my favorite Anne Sexton poems called, "Just Once." I remember reading this poem in college, and then shutting the door to my room and reading it again, and reading it again - then reading it out loud, again, and again. Poetry is meant to be read out loud and savored on the tongue. I'm not necessarily a good reader of poems other than my own, because inflecting someone else's language is always tricky. I do think it's a great endeavor, though, and helps us understand the poems better. I light a candle in honor of poets, poetry, and readers of poetry.
I like your taste in poets. Have you seen the two part youtube posting of Anne Sexton at her house being interviewed and reading poetry?
