Are you kidding? I volunteer there, they take extra special care of Lucy, this film was edited to make it seem like it. Unless you actually see her in real life you have no business saying that they only keep her to make money.

Six elephants have died at this sanctuary in the USA where they want to send Lucy. If she makes the trip, she'll surely die there! I say she's better kept here in Edmonton.

Lucy, I love you!!! I will write letters and do what I can to help you. You are a victim of the human virus. Those who hold you in captivity are evil in nature and soulless. I stand with you Lucy. Call me friend.

A chance for eleheaven would certainly be worth the hell she lives in

You did an incredible job on the video..bless her heart ...she is such a sad victim of greed and people who don't care for her well being or what her needs are...and the amazing thing is the justifications that they use to continue using her for their own agenda and poor Lucy keeps paying the price....probably til death ....if the zoo has their way about it and since they OWN her body she is doomed to die alone ...Poor Lucy ..my heart breaks for you girl....

........... although I DO see both sides, she may not survive the trip, but if she does she could be so much happier with other elephants...... on the other hand they do their best to take care of her at the zoo....

ok moving her would kill her, the keepers are her family and they take really good care of her

I would love to point out something about this video - it makes her look like she is facing a corner - in truth she is actually looking into the back area - where HER KEEPERS are. She is always happiest to be where they are working. Rocking is a natural behaviour. Yes, she has health problems - which will not go away by sending her away and no one mentions that the trip to this fantastic sanctuary could very well KILL her!
That's great SGbarbiegirls, you are able to recite zoo propaganda. The zoo says the move would kill her but won't let an independent vet assess Lucy's health. They say "industry experts" agree with their determination, but don't list who these experts are. You need to start thinking for yourself instead of letting the zoo think for you.

No, the rocking is not normal, it is stereotypic behaviour borne out of boredom and stress. She also has chronic foot and respiratory problems caused by lack of exercise, and the climate. Also, you didn't answer the question I posed below: Do you seriously think Lucy is happier at the VZ than she could be at the 2700 acre Elephant Sanctuary, where she would be warm year around, and surrounded by other elephants? The only reason why you want her in Edmonton is for your amusement.

No offense emegeeayen, but are you seriously telling me that Lucy would rather stay in her barren "habitat" at the VZ than move to a 2700 acre sanctuary where she would be warm year around and surrounded by other elephants? Oh, and yeah, I had to edit the video. You know why? Because she rocked back and forth, exhibiting her stereotypic behaviour for more than ten minutes as we watched, and You Tube only allows ten minutes of video at a time. Your comments are self-serving.
