In our mission to try to understand homelessness and the homeless condition, we ran into Nathaniel. Our meeting with him inspired us to continue to do our work through our non-profit organization, the 25/35 Foundation.
Check us out at 2535foundation.blogspot.com
Thank you Mr. Ayers.

  • The violin is not tuned.

Untuned instruments make me do a sad face!!!

    :(

It may not seem like a lot, but tuning is very important!!!

  • This dude is a beast.

  • @2StringsConnection I admire your strength to see your brother as what he is and not what " he should or can be." I am a case manager for mentally ill clients and often times people tell them what they "need" to do in order to "get better." Failing to realize that most (not all) people with mental illness still have the power of choice.

    Peace and love!

  • La mer of debussy????????

  • I would like to applaud you for being such an awesome sister.Although I don't suffer a mental illness(some would beg to differ) I do however live with Sickle Cell. Your dedication to him makes me a little jealousONLY because I am the last of 6 children & can't get any help/support/understanding/assistance/comfort/anything whatsoever from any except for 1 of my siblings! I just have to say that I truely admire you Mrs.Jennifer and IF your brother had'nt uttered the words to you himself..THANK YOU

  • That he still plays despite his illness, inspiring millions, may be an even greater gift than the music he would have made if he hadn't become ill. It must be so hard to suffer through schizophrenia (an understatement) and to be a family member of a severely I'll person (thank you to his sister who commented here) but I hope it is of some comfort to know and feel the love and respect of those of us who have been touched.

  • is he playing without a chin rest?

  • he's only using one finger!

  • Nice!

As a surprisingly unusual homeless violinist (with a laptop), I've got to point out:

Very few journalists are interested in helping homeless musicians (that's not their job.)

The flick, though quite entertaining, "enhanced" many truths in order to be more...entertaining. (Okay. I liked it anyway.)

The music "profession" has become more dubious than ever before.

If my own apt video response to this post is not accepted, feel free to examine my own youtube page. Viva Bach!

  • I don't understand this "gud" you speak of...?
