  • funny how the entire world tries to shit on american cars but so many american muscle car vids are somewhere overseas

  • @donperrignon have you seen the new Camaro ZL1 come within a few seconds of the fastest Lamborghinis at the Nurburgring? How about Cadillac's CTS-V line beating comparable cars AND Ferrari around the Nurburgring? Or even the Mustang Boss 302 beating the BMW M3's lap time around Laguna Seca? Joke? I think not.

  • HAHA I thought over speed warning was funny until it flashed to Buckle Seatbelt! lol at 300!

  • 300 Km/h, it would take a hell of a lot more than a chevy big block to do 300 mp/h

  • Over speed warning! Hahaha

  • @Sal7232 Did I compare a ZL1 to a 458? nope. I compared nothing to it. All I said was a Cadillac was faster than the 458. However, the ZL1 was, in fact, meant to be a track day monster, not just a beast in the quarter-mile. NOW I made the comparison. Sure, we're making the focus on more displacement, but it's nowhere near what it was 40 years ago. We're doing more with less. In any way, we are now seeing more and more manufacturers once seen as a joke competing with the best and winning.

  • @MeatballYaro2 I agree with you, performance is handling, power and everything combined. And yes, that's true that we're no longer living in 1970, and that auto tech has changed RADICALLY since.

The point that I think you're missing is that it's illogical to compare, say, a ZL1 Camaro with a 458 Italia; one wants to do 1/4 while the other wants to tach-out.

Whether 1970 or 2012, the point is that Euro cars are top-fast while American cars focus on DISPLACEMENT, which has NOTHING to do with ERA

  • @Sal7232 ...no. This isn't 1970 anymore. Performance is more than acceleration and American performance cars don't top out at 129 mph anymore. Performance is the combination of overall speed, acceleration, handling and braking. If anything, Laguna Seca is the ultimate benchmark; steep incline, steep decline, high-speed stretches to tight turns, quick acceleration points that require immediate shifting, the famous "corkscrew", the whole lot of it really.

  • @mxmang At that speed it doesn't really matter haha You hit ANYTHING you're toast!

  • lol 'buckle seatbelt'

  • @MeatballYaro2 You know dude, I gave you a "thumbs up" on this, ONLY because I can sympathize with what you're saying.

I don't think that you should use Nurburgring as your basis for a car's performance, however, as "The Ring" is mostly the test of a car's TOP-END performance. I respect the Euro exotics for being able to find that balance between bottom and top-end, but I will still say that quarter-mile is the TRUE test of a car's performance, and that's where muscle cars get it...

  • @dumbluck0629 Well shit, do you have any idea what they would pay for a Chevy in Japan? I don't know personally, but from what I understand, the Japanese will pay TOP DOLLAR for classic, American cars, as well as the European countries that buy-up muscle cars like hot cakes....
