In this episode of The Tales of Allen , Host Craig Erickson gives us a closer look at the old Interurban Railway and how it was a major form of public transportation in the North Texas area.
One problem is that, to rebuild this system, you would have to demolish entire suburban neighborhoods, comercial retail complexes and even public schools. If you study a map of the line, and examine it using satelite imaging, you'll see that all of this, including high tension electrical lines, have been built right on top of the right-of-way.
Why can't they bring this system back? It seems if the government can pull $700 billion out of a hat to rescue the rich bankers, they could throw a little toward a project like this.
Well done.

Once upon a time in the West. Very interesting - what Rapid Transit looked like 60-70 years ago
