Paper Cutter: http://bit.ly/eEV3gA
Hi I'm Joe from Cheap Joe's Art Stuff. I get inquiries quite often asking How do you cut your paper? I have a full sheet and I want to make it two half sheets. I've seen people fold it and bend it and put it on a table and try and tear it and it just makes a mess. We have really what's an envelope opener but it's a heavy duty, it's called Cheap Joe's Watercolor Paper Cutter, they're very very inexpensive and this thing works like a charm and will last forever.
I have sheet of 300 pound paper here, you can see it's very heavy, very difficult to bend. But all you do is fold it over so it catches exactly on the edge here and then you crease it with your hand and then you take the paper cutter and you put it in just like it was an envelope. Part of the secret here is holding it up toward the sky. Don't let it cut down or it will cut into the paper. Hold it point it up, hold this edge up and just run it through there. See how I'm holding it up. Hold it back this way and run it across. There I have two half sheets that look like they have beveled edge on them.
If I want to cut a quarter sheet do the same thing. Bend it crease it a little bit. Put my hand right there, head it up and there it is. So easy, it's the simplest way in the world to cut you paper.
Oh, Joe, you've just about knocked me out of my chair with this video. I'm a photographer who makes some prints on watercolor paper. I've despaired over the large sheets and have devolved after many disasters into doing a slow, crazy job with an xacto knife after much measuring, et sillycetera. I only found this vid because I came across a bloopers vid of yours and hit the search box before the second blooper got under way. Now I'm subbing and off to your site with love. Thank you!
