Dublin University Philosophical Society, Trinity College Dublin, Thursday 21st October 2010. We join Stephen's speech near the beginning. The motion was "This House Believes That The Gay Rights Movement Has Undermined Family Values".
When it came to a vote, not one person apart from the proposers could be found to support the motion. Abraham would have as much trouble pleading for this seat of learning, founded by Elizabeth I, as he had trying to find ten righhteous men in Sodom.
While Islam targets the universities, academia, both sides of the Irish Sea, is taking a secularist chain-saw to the Christian branch it sits on.
Stephen will always consider invitations from University and College Debating Societies to speak up for Christ and Christianity and to speak against Secularism, Homosexuality, Islam, Evolution, Abortion, Europe, Political Correctness, Globalism and other evils of our day. • There’s no evidence, to my knowledge, that children adopted by gay couples are more likely to be gay. It appears to be largely genetic, hence there appears to be a greater incidence of twins who are both gay than one would expect from the incidence of homosexuality among the whole population. Also, the quote from Exodus 21 appears to undermine the idea that slaves are to be treated well according to the Bible.

  • @theprophetofperhaps No credible researcher supports the contention that homosexuality is 'largely genetic' and the twins study has been roundly rubbished. Sociologists at the Uni of California found children of lesbian parents more likely to explore homosexual activity themselves and that there is a masculinising effect on daughters and a feminising effect on sons in such families. See narth dot com / docs / does.html

  • Try as I might, I couldn't find anything worthy of being called an argument in this speech. There was no real answer, as far as I could see, to the study which showed that lesbian couples make good parents, or to the Bible passage cited which permits people to beat their slaves to death provided that they don't die immediately. There also seems to be somewhat of an inconsistency in denying the right to marry to gay people when that would likely decrease promiscuity.

  • @theprophetofperhaps A famous study in Hoilland showed that in societies which are more accepting of homosexuality, promiscuity increases. Dignifying sodomy by equating it to marriage will on that evidence increase not decrease promiscuity. Whether lesbians make 'good parents' or not depends on what standards we set for outcomes. EG: If a child becomes gay, is that 'good' or 'bad'? The Bible states that servants are not to be treated harshly, because the Israelites were servants in Egypt..

  • I went to the link to see the transcript to hear exactly what the young gentleman who brought the house down @ 2:24 said. It turns out that the so called "transcript" only covers what Stephen Green says. Some of us want to hear both sides of the argument

  • That study, though, might well be confusing correlation with causation. More liberal societies will likely tolerate homosexuality, and will also be more tolerant of promiscuity. Holland is notoriously liberal in most respects, and one might just as validly conclude from its example that tolerating homosexuality will lead to cannabis legalisation, which seems nonsense.

  • @abiOS999 No one refutes our statistics or arguments, they just hurl insults. It is not intelligence that is winning it for the gays, it is political pressure. But we have news for you: Jesus Christ will win, indeed He has the victory already. Your house is built on the sand of a lie and will not stand. Enjoy it while it lasts.

  • @christianvoiceuk

No, intelligence is the only weapon I have, thus why I felt i would voice my opinion on how utterly ridiculous Stephen Green is. Also what argument have you won? You haven't won anything! Bit by bit gay people are getting the rights they deserve and eventually it will result in absolute equality. The only people that have these kind of views are people of an older generation, closet cases, and the uneducated.

  • @abiOS999 Insult is the only weapon you have left when the other side has won the argument.

  • @mitzi7416 Well, it seems not, from the amount of energy and money the gay lobby pours into obsessively browbeating the rest of us to agree with their warped world-view. Someone has to stand up against them; and as a mere 1% of the population is now understood to be that way inclined, the law of averages has to be stretched a bit ...
