  • i like this form. i study lau gar. my favourite form charp choi uses the phoenix eye. can i ask. what height are the majority of the strikes aimed. sternum, throat ect?????

  • strikes are aimed at the eyes, throat, 2inches below the ear where the jaw attaches, the temple, the bread basket or sternum or just under the rib cage.

some of the other ones are aimed at the pit on the inner part of the elbow and a the pit in deltoid where the arm meets the shoulder, these would be the second level strikes aimed at incapacitating the arm or to setup qin na

  • lol you strike almost as fast as a chinese boxer!!

  • haha, not really.ive met smaller guys who can hit harder and faster than me.when they strike its like dynamite going off.

  • You invented this form? It looks useful. I could imagine how one would use the content. I do have a question, if you don't mind, though, and it may sound a bit random. Do you know of any Pheonix-Eye-Fist Gung Fu (Chu Gar or Fong Ngan) citations where I might find out more about it? Thank you for sharing this.

  • yes, i built this form, from parts of my kung fu training in shaolin and southern kung fu.simply devoted to training phoenix fist rather than being a complete system, as in chu kua shaolin quan (malaysian chu gar phoenix fist) Donn draeger wrote a very good book on the phoenix eye fist(ie chu kua shaolin)with another by a chap named leong. i had a copy but gave it away to a friend whoe went to study wing chun.

  • @henrym3483 whoa the footing and punches are almost exactly like wing chun

  • also, apparently there are many times when the phoenix eye fighter will switch between strike ranges, eg. A series of high attack followed with a few low strikes and low kicks. Then again, perhapes this is just one kata from this man's Phoenix Eye Fist?

    Nice one bro :)

  • there is a section of phoenix eye fist in the gulao form in wing chun (pien san or side body form)but not many knows it.

we strike like a bamboo swinging with the wind. "soft kung fu" but can be applied as "hard wing chun" as well.

noticed my sifu using it from day 1 of my lesson then later my senior brother told me what it is and what its for. really interesting to this day. learnt others as well like ginger fist, "chicken kidney" fist double knuckles/3knuckles fist etc...

    respect..

  • Thats more like Wing Chun...

My mom teaches Kung Fu and my Uncle teaches Wing Chun... :]
