Take your own advice Mr. President. "No silver bullets" should mean that nuclear takes up at least part of the equation.

Nuclear power is the way to go. There are hundreds of square miles of uninhabited land where the waste can safely be disposed of.

Goddamnit. It's been a year of disappointment with Obama, more than ever with his latest foray into energy policy.
Solar and wind?
Nuclear? Of course not. He's been equivocating on nuclear ever since he's been elected.

I supposed Obama in 2008. I volunteered for his campaign and went door to door explaining his policy, and even had a psycho pull a fucking gun on me doing so. The only thing he's done that I hoped he would do was introduce health care and open relations with Latin America.

"Remember Chernobyl - before it melted down - all the "experts" were saying its 100% safe, don't worry, nothing can bad can happen or go wrong,"

No they weren't. For years the inspectors were saying it could easily cause exactly that kind of disaster. Scientists warned them over and over again, but the politicians put profit first.

Then again, the US always puts profit first too, so maybe they shouldn't be allowed any either.

while i am pro nuclear power (no co2 emission)
i think new powerplants shouldn't be built now during financial crisis! With new nuclear power plants you would fuck the compeition up real bad! and you would prevent investions into other energy forms, because nuclear power is the most efficient power there is. With no investments into non-efficient things how are we supposed to get out of financial crisis???
BUT: if you trusted a soviet powerplant you are dumb! and listen to "faithdelusion"

It wasn't the scientist's fault that it went postal on half of Europe, it was caused by poor funding and terrible build quality in the failing state of Soviet Russia.

I see nuclear power as a transition phase. I do, however, think Solar is the best way to go in a country with THAT much sunlight.
