@Nobleman67 ...your dominant hand will allow you to do finger picking styles. Your nails essentially act like picks. I've been playing guitar for several years now and I like the ability to switch between finger picking and strumming. Give it a try once you've mastered some chords. There are plenty of videos on youtube that can show you some examples. You are very talented and I have faith in your abilities as a musician/songwriter/singer and I believe you will do great things in 2011. Jam on.

Hey Bianca, I heard in the beginning of this video that one of your new years resolutions is to learn to play guitar. Good luck in doing so it shouldn't be too difficult for you to transition from piano. Just learn where the notes are on the guitar and you can transfer over the leads and then where the chords are and they will transfer too to some degree. Also you don't have to get rid of your nails entirely you can keep about a 1/4 inch without effecting your chords and having longer nails on..
