Brute physical strength is not everything in tennis, and it doesn't necessarily even account for all the power players generate on their shots. It's also about great racquet motion. Graf's incredible racquet speed used to account for a lot of the power on her forehand (which is also why her backhand was decidedly the weak suit in comparison).

@DIANAROSS4EVER stosur lifts weights.and chris did get in better shape to compete with navratilova.too much muscle takes away speed and flexibility which is bad for tennis.you know nothing.

@jayfey77 oh OK then Samantha Stosur is much physically superior to this couple of lame ducks. In fact, almost every tennis player now is superior to Chris Evert, that bitch complains about Serena not being consistent, well in fact Chris Evert could have gone to a fucking gym during her prime and get even better results, so if the current players lack of talent Chris Evert lacked of dedication to the game, no wonder why Navratilova surpassed her in every aspect of the game.

Martina is, for my money, the best tennis player that ever lived. Also the best to watch (uhm... game-wise, not body-wise lol :D).
And to anyone comparing modern statistics with these old legends, plz freeze the screen at about 2.10 and have a good look at the racquets they are using...

Henin, Sharapova, Williams etc dont hold a candle to Chris and Martina. This was THE Golden era of Tennis. The placement and drama was everything and toward the end of this match the tension was unbeleivable. Its BS to say slappers like Sharapova are better than these two classy acts
