From 1972, this album was the first conceptual work, by english band Jethro Tull, that followed a fully aproach on the emerging progressive rock style. The album contains only one song that is divided in two parts. With Thick as a Brick, the band created an album deliberately integrated around one concept: a poem by an intelligent English boy (named Gerald) about the trials of growing up.
On the other hand works as a parody to all conceptual albums of the time and the progressive rock scene that was credited to Jethro Tull despite their vision of where they standed as a band in the music scene at the time.
