Wild match. Wild crowd. This was the 2nd of 3 wild matches in 3 months at MSG between these two, and is the match that led to the famous "boot camp match" a month later.
From Madison Square Garden, New York. May 21, 1984.
Sgt. Slaughter
VS
The Iron Sheik (with "The Ayatollah" Blassie)
(Slaughter bleeds, a lot, can actually see him blading at around 9:00-10:00)
(Interesting that Brian Blair comes running out to help the Sheik. I guess the Sheik doesn't remember...)
slughter is a big legend in the wrestling

The Sheik was no slouch. He won medals for wrestling in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. He was a bodyguard for the Shah of Iran (where failure meant an icepick to the skull). And he was an EXTREMELY effective and talented heel.

i remember when i first saw this match... i was 10. when sarge began bleeding, he was getting up of the mat (after blading, obviously) &| i said to myself, " wow, sarges' combover is really long !".... it wasn't his hair, it was a stream of blood. not a drip, a constant stream. that's dedication.

@alzeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer cuz he's smart enough to know that 98% of americans aren't smart enough to know the difference, & if they could, they wouldn't care.
