The AMW 98/17500 is the largest motor you can buy in America, and it's illegal in many states. So we went to Nevada. Even the propellant (with embedded titanium sponge) is illegal in California, where I live. And Nevada is the only place on the planet (that I know of) where you can regularly get flight waivers to 100K ft. altitudes. My rocket took a while to build... with two lead bricks in the nose for stability. Two flight computers and three parachutes.

  • thats not very safe he only just left the pad when the motor went.

  • @jhgyufuokgfc - that was just video editing (I took out the long delay between my exit from the frame and the launch event). I was a safe distance away, and behind a SUV.

  • Great flight. but you say that the 98/17500 is the biggest motor you can buy in america? What about the CTI pro 150's?

    150/40000

    150/50000

  • I was a bit unclear on "in" (vs. importing in). I consider Cesaroni to be a Canadian company. =)

I did just get a Loki Q, and Jeff might make some reloads... so it's all up for grabs....

  • @jurvetson this is an amazing rocket man. good job.

  • Hi. What is the propelent? What is the role of titanium sponge. Thanks.

  • Nice. Don't know much about rockets but a fluffy foam sock on your cam mic will help remove the wind sound ;)

  • Oh I see. XD

Loki motors are nice. I have yet to fly anything outside of AT however...

  • For a moment there, I thought you were still standing next to it

  • Great video. You need a video camera for the nose cone.
