Kai Hanupanupa - Slack key kanikapila with Ledward Kaapana

We had a little kanikapila, cooked up some teri chicken, baked some cookies, and invited a bunch of folks. Musicians, dancers, and fans of Hawaiian music, mostly. And we had our distringuished visitor, the inimitable Mr. Ledward Kaapana.

This surging piece was composed by Ken and Phil Emerson and brought to our attention by Mike Kaawa. He and Ledward have done some dynamic duet versions recently. This spontaneous version trucks right along with Led's hand at the wheel.

The audio is being recorded on the Sony PCM-D50 hanging in the olive tree. All video is from a Panasonic GH2. Editing in Edius Neo.

Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful celebration of music and friendship. That Sony PCM-D50 did a mighty job of capturing the audio. The musician list has, from the left Dick Jones on bass and Ikaika Lancaster on uke but who's playing the Guild between Dick and Ikaika ? Great post. Thanks
