I really hope you have that poor thing in a proper tank by now.

By the way, he wasn't attacking you. If he was, he'd be flaring at you, and not biting you at all. He thought your finger was food.

Unfortunately, he's passed on now, but I did move him into a much bigger nicer tank! First I switched him to a 10 gallon, then he was in a 25!! I feel bad having them in such small spaces. And he was quite a gentleman when it came to my mollies and platys!

I know he wasn't attacking =) Title is a joke.

@MeKiller45 Just because you catch it in a puddle doesn't mean it lives there, they hop from puddle to puddle searching for a larger body of water...

Guys...I have have a male betta in a 1 gallon fishbowl and he's never had any kind of filtration system. Granted I do change his water every few weeks. About half of his little bowl is taken up by a rock that he loves to hide in. When I take even that out, he tries to hide in his gravel and doesn't move. The space is fine, unless I'm missing something here. PS he's a wal-mart betta and is nearly 5 years old now. Maybe this is a different type though?

The tank is too small. Unless you do daily water changes he will die bettas can live in puddles for a couple days. They are found naturally in the warm murky water of farmers rice fields. Eating bugs on the surface of the water. Be decent and go buy a at least 5-gallon starter kit for 20$ at walmart make sure you have a heater aswell... I know this due to many books exstensive reasearch and owning bettas since i was four.

The tank is fine betta fish like small spaces because you catch them in puddles sometimes
