The term Aryan originates with the Indo-Iranian self-designation arya, attested in the ancient texts of Hinduism and Zoroastrianism, the Rigveda and the Avesta.

In the 18th century, the most ancient known Indo-European languages were those of the Indo-Iranians' ancestors. The word Aryan was adopted to refer not only to the Indo-Iranian people, but also to native Indo-European speakers as a whole, including the Albanians, Armenians, Greeks, Latins, and Germans. It was soon recognised that Balts, Celts, and Slavs also belonged to the same group. It was argued that all of these languages originated from a common root — now known as Proto-Indo-European — spoken by an ancient people who must have been the original ancestors of the European, Iranian, and Indo-Aryan peoples. The ethnic group composed of the Proto-Indo-Europeans and their modern descendants was termed the Aryans.

ARyans did NOT originate in India, nor did their solar cross symbol (swastika 卐), pre-dating Sanskrit itself, which is part of the Indo-European/Indo-Iranian (Indo-Aryan) language tree.

  • Aryans are mostly Iranian plus German , but d real land is Persia w/c is mainly now days Iran

  • Aryan are ancient Persians, who scattered around the world after a natural catastrophic event and war that took place in the Kurushetra battleground. They brought their knowledge and became new civilization as we seen in Egypt, Greece, India and many ancient tribes in Arabia as well as in South East Asia. Some of their legacy are still preserved in form of many Indian shastra (science) scripts but many are lost after the war in the ancient city of Dwaraka (it is now under the sea).

  • @ThePappurao DNA evidence disagrees with you. The cast system is India have genetic links realted to the the path of Arya in south Asia but also directly related to northern Europeans. If nomadic peoples didn't come downwards, did the Tibetian and higher Indian casts move up into Europe?

    DNA is now superceeding linquistics.

  • Why there is no non-IE names of rivers & mountains ( unlike in Europe which retains many previous non-IE such names ) ? Why Sanskrit scriptures tell of many incidences which are very ancient than supposed aryan arrival around 1500 BC like king Manu & deluge or inciedence of formation of lakes in Kashmir with demon killing by Parvati, but forget their any arrival in totally vast & diverse land. And, this vast , diverse land had amazed all visitors but failed to do so for `Aryans'.

  • sorry some mistakes in below post. Swtizerland's old name is Helvetica. Harvatia or Hrvatska or Harvati is name of Croatia. Note similarity of both names i.e. Harvati & Helvetica. Switzerland is long acknoledged as celtic area. Celtic druids are finding parallel with Indian brahmins. Why only Indians preserved `some so called foreign language' named Sanskrit much better than any other branch of IE languages ?

  • Why central asian BMAC small planned villages were burnt during 1700 BC , where as IVC planned towns were just vacated. This behaviour is similar to celtic people of Harvatia burning their own village as they don't intend to return there again. ( harvatia = Switzerland's old name - still appearing on it's stamps ) Note that Harvatia is similar to Afghan Harahvati and Indian Saraswati.

  • >continued Even Saraswati river's findings are refuted by Witzel gang. This is still debated because western world has only one way of thinking & seeing facts. Giving importance to horse issue is like believing in Invasion which is refuted now. .

  • In RigVeda , there is no mention of any people coming from west to east. In fact, there is opposite movement from south of Saraswati basin to main saraswati region to western indus river & beyond. But, western `scholars' fabricated some invasion story from it and imposed on newly formed education system. Now, invasion of Indus Valley towns is ruled out , but still this article tells about invasion of some Aryan people. There is no proof of outside people invading / migrating to India .

  • @bikini1212 >there is no evidence of demographic discontinuity in archaeological

remains during the period 4500 to 800 BC. In other words, there was no significant influx of people into India during this period. Formation of Kashmir lakes were reported in ancient sanskrit texts and it was conformed by the modern geophysicists that the formation of lakes happened 40,000 years ago. The absurd theory of Aryan invasion was even rejected by very British recently.

  • @bikini1212 This is contrived story of Rig-Veda and has no evidence for any of these claims. The negative information about Vedas has begun almost 2 centuries ago to malign the greatness of Hindu civilization.Astronomical references in Vedas refer to events as early as 4000-5000 BC. Various Mythological texts refer to migration of ancient hindus to west. According to the work of Kenneth Kennedy of Cornell University.>continued
