The week started with the wind being blown out of my sails - I lost a friend- In 1980 I was a visiting author in David Melville's classroom - we remained friends. Last year we all met in a small fishing village in Mexico - had storytelling's, fiestas & we both painted to our hearts content!
David Melville June 1 1937 -- May 25 - 2010-06-06
David was a Giant of a Man ... an artistic representation of life,
an energy flow between communities of interest, always for resolution of global and universal issues.
Generous...peaceful spirit-Joyfully rebellious
David was a Giant of a Man
During his deep life he was a writer, poet, artist, retired Toronto school teacher, Co-founder of Canadian Alliance of Black Educators, Activist, Community Legal Educator and Life Long Learner.
... A beautiful man who touched everyone he met...
Sweet gentle nature... peace...
He will be missed...
The last words he said to me were, "Absolutely do what you need to do- life is short.
Condolences to Susan and all of his family.

......Death is always around us, but it always seems so far away until someone loved or close to us passes away. Your tribute to David reminds us all to absolutely do the things we need to do - life really is to short.
Regards – Alex
...….Sad, but what a sweet tribute... may he fly with the pelicans!
