i watched foo fighters back and forth, this is about how he didnt know the band would be like this from the start like he didnt think this would happen when he was in nirvana, its about kurt too, the bassist from nirvana played for bass here :D

love the song to bad there are to many mistakes in the lyrics :(

It's about being in a situation where he should have known. When he started writing it, he was thinking about a specific time but as he kept writing and as he sang it, it became about all the times in his life where he should have known. He said it in Back an Forth. -3 best song ever!(:

Um actually I think that he stated in Back and Forth that it was about someone he used to be involved with. Looking at the situation he said to himself.....I should've know this was going to happen. Then looking back there are alot of situations he could say that about.

The song is about how he should've known that that was going to happen to Kurt. There is some denial in the song too because he feels he could've done something about it. It's also partly about one of his other friends that OD'ed a while back.

Just read "This is a call:the life and times of Dave Grohl" biography by Paul Brannigan.  Dave Grohl says it is about his long time friend Jimmy Swanson , who also died from a drug OD, and other friends that he has lost along the way. Epic song, Epic Album, Epic Band!
