A late 2006 black MacBook showing what happens when the cooler fan gets old, rusty and dirty as hell (probably from dust) after some three years of use. A failed attempt to clean the fan was made, it did not result in the noise going away. By the end of the video you see the "poor man's hit it hard fix method" being applied, albeit not recommended, it works for a while (the noise restarts after a few minutes). The fan has been replaced now and the noise is gone.

  • ugh mine sounds just like that. When i took it into the mac store, the guy said it was perfectly normal....that it was making that noise because my computer was 1 1/2 years old. I told him I thought my fan might be going out, but he said it wasn't. -_-

  • @wheatthins101 that's utter bullshit. he's trying to make you go out and buy a new one. of course it is making this noise because it is 1 1/2 years old: after this time the fan breaks down! have change that fan.

  • Man, that sounds like an electric razor inside your lap top. Take it back, and dont buy apple no mlore. Steve Jobs owes you $ 1000.00 for your laptop and your headaches.

  • @summerdying111 "... and dont buy apple no more"

    surely looking into that.

  • Oi rhwinter,

  • @wheatthins101 this happened to me too, i took it to 3 different apple stores and each time they said its perfectly normal...

  • @rhwinter Well that macbook was the early version. the ones that were like, the in exppirienced ones. If your going to buy a laptop, make it the 2010 macbook unibody white. they run like a charm. had mine for a little over a year now. its running fantastic

  • dude you should had clean that shit every day since you got it haha

  • ROFL sounds like an combustion engine

  • I sounds like a razor/shavor thing XD

  • My first generation MacBook suffered from this problem.

  • @danjorgen that's weird. i got it changed at an authorized apple support (there are no apple stores in brazil!).

i don't know which brand of fan I got, since it was the support people who did all the work. i suppose getting it from apple should be trusty. either way, if your problem is not solved, go back to the store and complain until it has been solved.
