Supermodel Naomi Campbell has spent her 42nd birthday in the West Bank flanked by Palestinian guards and her own minders. Campbell lit candles in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem where Christians believe Jesus was born. Campbell spoke to a Palestinian television station.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell: "One thing I always dreamed of doing and as much traveling as I've done around the world, I've never come here. So I came here, I'm here, I'm happy to be here. Weapons and war, greed and oil...I hope it all stops. I care about health, about good vibrations, not destruction."

The British star, who was one of the first women in the world to be referred to as a supermodel, also expressed her desire to see regional peace. Campbell later celebrated her birthday at the nearby Casa Nova Palace Restaurant, before being shuttled away amid heavy security. Campbell this week also visited the Western Wall, a key Jewish holy site in Jerusalem's Old City.
