From Obama’s speech in San Francisco:
"You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them," he said.
"And it's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations,"

From Obama’s Dreams of My Father: ; 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'
From Obama’s Dreams of My Father:
I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela.'

flip, our existence comes possibly as a result of the entitlements, certainly the shoulders, of our ancestors. it takes the form of cost-of-living increases, and the prerogative of our institutions.

He's living in the "black community". Not once in my life have I lived in a white community or attended a white church or listened to white theology. From what I can tell I am living Martin Luther's dream with black and asian friends, family and coworkers. Some people will never find equality because they won't realize they have it.

Oh and I am not asking you live in the past but as a country we need to get over this notion that the past doesn't affect the future or the present. To believe that you can destroy black families for so long, and render blacks second class for so long and not have any lasting consequences is not using sound thinking. People say they want to talk about race but can't get past the fact that the past still holds weight in the present and I'm not talking 300 years ago either just 60.

Yes there is, the crime laws have been repeated sighted in court cases for their racists sentences. Also the formulas used to form the bases for funding public schools have been sited as being racist because of the unequal way they portray black neighborhoods, including middle class black neighborhoods.

Have you been in any ruined inner city in America lately? Go to Detroit, Cleveland, Baltimore etc then you'll see the reason for white anger. Check the crime stats. Check the dropout rates. Check the illegitemacy rates. What world are you living in?
Based on substance it was one of the greatest speeches I've read given by a top tier mainstream politician in modern times.

this is interesting commentary here, but this utopian idea that we should forget our color in order to get along is a farce. White people and others refuse to believe that the slave trade caused this many problems for this long. They cannot fathom an act that was outlawed in 1865 would have any bearing today. So why are teenagers who were born in the 1980's and 1990's hanging nooses today? And not just in the south. Racism doesn't exist? Sounds generational.
