  • Bravo !! **** BRILLIANT . This should even make those Right-wing 50% of the 99% get off their BUTTS and STOP TOADYING for the CORPS.

  • Don't get me wrong- there are many reasons to protest Wall St. But personhood is not one of them, and I don't think it contributes nearly as much to the problems as you guys think.

  • I mean, can a corporation REALLY do much anything more, legally- and constitutionally-speaking, than even the most liberally-regulated nonprofits? And how do we know that THIS 'advantage' is itself a product of 'personhood'?

Is there EVEN a single provision in the U.S. code anywhere that specifically says something along the lines of, "Corporations are now recognized as people"?

  • And let's face it: You can't really SUE a corporation. The corporation is RUN BY PEOPLE, and therefore, if you sue a "corporation", you're really suing the people who run it. THEY will bear the costs of their actions if found guilty. Just like most any other group. So I'm not sure how 'personhood' in a case like that gives them any distinct advantages in our legal system.

  • Corporations can donate money to campaigns through PACs and/or bundling. BUT SO CAN MOST ANY OTHER GROUP that wants to influence our political system! But you don't hear any right-wingers talking about "nonprofit personhood", do ya? I think most lefties who complain about "personhood" don't REALLY understand much of it at all. It's just a popular buzzterm that left-wingers like to throw around in a knee-jerk fashion to 'explain' their position in a very concise manner.

  • Of course corporations are not people, but what's your POINT? I don't ask this as a right-winger or anything, but I AM a thinking man's liberal, so to speak. I don't understand this BS w/ the Left always complaining about corporate personhood, as if it gives corporations HUGE advantages in the legal system over OTHER non-people entities, like unions, lobbying groups, nonprofits, etc. But does it REALLY? Do those groups ALSO not get the same benefits? Prove it.

  • A corporation's political power should come from the people they hire, and not their coffers.
