Marc Jacobs with help from the Switch kites team made a kite powered car.
Building a functioning eco friendly wind powered, zero emissions car was the goal.
Marc found an old rusting Mini so they took it to their workshop and put it on a diet stripping out all gear not needed motor, fuel tank, etc. Installed new bearings, anchor rails, a splash of paint and it was ready. They picked the New 15m Element kite for the new power plant because of its grunt, safety and ease of use.
This video was filmed at Ohope beach in 15-25 knots. It was the vehicles first ever test run and everything went without a hitch and a top speed of 61km/h was recorded.
The next mission is to make the Mini and kite remote controled to see if they can jump it???
