Visit: http://www.classiccatskills.com/ for an updated version of this video plus photos and memories of the Catskills region. Kutsher's is one the last great Catskills resorts still in business. At its peak in the 1950's, there were nearly 1000 hotels operating in the region. In this video -- originally produced in 2007 on the 100th anniversary of the hotel -- Sullivan County Editor Barry Lewis interviews hotel matriarch Helen Kutsher and her son Mark.

  • I just performed at the theatre last weekend. Too bad this place is crumbling. It would be nice of they restored it to it's former glory. They don't make resorts like this anymore!

  • Wow. I found this video completely by accident. The first guy talking is my uncle (name misspelled). I remember visiting our family up in the Catskills Hotel bungalow communities in the 60's and 70's.

  • @WriterRoss

    "Hot"... I recommend therapy.

  • Re: the 2:15 mark: That woman is STILL hot. She's my mom! Cracking up reading this! And Kutshers is still open. Just.. very different from what you all remember. It's becoming a place for the orthodox community to congregate.

  • It is a shame to see these places go, I used to stay at the Stevensvills for many years, we were at the Pines twice as well as the Nevele... All gone now, those memories can never be replaced nor can those times

  • Rebellion of technology will soon revive the Catskills in 10-20 years. Everything is cyclical. This peaceful area will flourish again! It's so relaxing with no worries that people will return eventually.

  • @Rico8458 All for love. Love is great, but you need the right mix of love and business acumen.

That did not happen. What a shame because all of Helen's great work was wasted on a son who has no clue about anything.

  • vietnam war ruin the resorts

  • haha, look at the lady @ 2:15. I bet she was hot back before electricity.

  • haha nope
