I'm a year in the Air Force here. I'm not sure how different our sister branches are. Here, once you're done with basic and technical school, it almost feels the same as a civilian job. People overestimate the physical aspects of basic and underestimate the mental. Your body will adjust and they don't expect recruits to be in perfect shape, but dealing with the culture shock or taking orders from other recruits who are younger/dumber than you can be stressful depending on your personality.

@selectandstart123 You know the army calls the air force the "chair force" right? :D I'm glad that I'm as old as I am, I think that might give me a bit of an advantage in dealing with the psychological manipulation of basic. I know it's about breaking and reshaping a person, so just deal with it, it DOES have a purpose. And dealing with superiors that are "less capable" than you, that describes every job I've ever had, that's nothing new.

Can you do a let's play? And just upload more crap? I like you bashing on the Avatar movie, and talking about stories from an analytical perspective. I liked what you said about the Blue Spirit episode, I never thought about how Zuko would actually screw up Aang.

@RandomDolphinMishap I don't have the equipment to capture footage for a let's play . . . . though hearing me yell at the screen while playing Sonic Adventure might be amusing . . . . I'll look into more review stuff though.

The Air Force calls the Air Force the "chair force" too. It depends on your specialty code as to how easy your job is going to be. Mine is cake, and I'll gladly take jokes and keep my desk job. As for basic; it's my theory that it's more about breaking down and getting rid of potentially poor soldiers than breaking down and building up new ones. They don't tell them to leave; they wait for them to plead to go home or threaten suicide. For most it's just two months of being uncomfortable.

@SaneTezz there's no appropriate driver for my Creative Labs VF0230 for windows 7 that i could find and i used to compile and edit the raw vids in Windows Movie Maker and i haven't investigated whether there's a Win7 version of that yet.
