Someone should be real cute and upload this documentary ;D

It was because of the riders that BYU amended it's policy to "behavior instead of feelings or orientation".
This reply was long, but on the other hand you do say in your profile you are dedicated to the "free exchange of ideas" and that one should not hesitate to express one's point of view. I hope you read it all, with an open mind, and at least gave it some thought. For me this is it, I don't plan to turn this into a debate. Take care and God bless you and your family.

A product of ignorance, that promotes only division and hatred. This kind of attitude is what the riders were trying to challenge. Because how can a person or institution that claims to be following God's word be so cruel to close it's eyes to the fact there are gays within their families, church goers and exceptional members of community/student body and in the process victimize them with their gruesome comparisons, name labelings and most importantly their dismissal and exclusion?
-
During the doc they played a speech from the president of North Central University warning that if they would ever meet a "nice gay", who looked like a family member, a church goer or a decent member of the community you had to know that they were just wolves in sheep clothes, and that behind the mask were "chained men wrapped in leather" and even went ahead and compared them to pedophiles. That is not only denigrating but also false and misleading
-
And after seeing the doc I don't believe it was the riders goal to "change the rules" so every gay could apply. No. For starters they wanted to denounce that some students were expelled just for being gay, forget about homosexual activity, it was just for having homosexual inclinations. And on the other hand how harmful and destructive the environment was for those still studying and were forced to be "in the closet", in fear, hiding their orientation
-
Make the universities stop ignoring that they had to address this issue, and be able to (in someway) reconsider what they were doing. And by the end of the doc some of them actually did change/modify some of their policies. On the other hand, no gay man or woman who has come to terms with their sexuality and have decided to separated themselves from the hate and animosity from family members, community, etc. would ever in their straight mind try to apply to a religious university
-
That would have shown that although you are committed to stand by your convictions and principles, you are also open to at least hear what the other has to say and even be able to hold a dialog. The rider's themselves were conscious that just to think that with their actions they were going to change the status quo was in fact silly. And as the ride progressed they were truly learning from the experience and they said several times that their main goal was to at least start a dialog
Rock on, guys. :)
