Hey! So I am from Alberta Canada and as far as Mat leave we get 1 year paid. After I had my son I decided I didn't want to leave him in someone else's care all day so I decided to not go back to work. Since then I have had a second son and still have not returned. Child care is so expensive and where I was, job wise, before it just didn't make sense to hand my pay check over to child care. I have worked a few nights a week in past years and it wasn't too bad.

WoW! I'm not surprised at the cost of an ultrasound. But it's unreal that a lot of places don't have the same health plans or coverage that we have here. Now don't get me wrong, I'm sure you all have better services lol. But for the most part, I couldn't imagine it being any other way. I'm happy to hear you have coverage! And it's nice to see you're doing good! Your new places looks really nice!
Where are you all located? Here in Ontario as long as you work a certain amount of time you get a year off.

You guys a pretty damn lucky up there in Canada!! I'm here in the Ohio, where an ultrasound can cost you $580 bucks if you dont have insurance (luckily, i have insurance lol)

My EDD is 7/12/09 and I'm planning on taking the full twelve weeks. Unfortunately, most of it is not paid. I get six weeks at 60% salary and the other six weeks unpaid.
I've already saved up most of what I need though. I'm kind of a single mom, (my BF and I don't live together) so taking the twelve weeks is cheaper (and more comforting) for me than leaving my newborn in daycare.
Oh and daycare prices scare me. I don't know what I'm going to do about that.

My baby's due date is 7-8-09! Wear a belly band over your pants to conceal that they are unbuttoned. You can use a tube top for a belly band or buy one that is marketed as a belly band, just make sure it's tight enough to keep your pants from falling down. You're so little, but you're finally starting to show.Congrats!I haven't checked on daycare prices, but the prices and leaving the baby with someone else is scary. After 6 weeks, my mom will stay with me a month, so that makes me feel better.
