This video is to show the that the TV is now working, The camera does not do this TV justice. It is very clear, no more static. I replaced several capacitors throughout the set, the 24 volt regulator transistor and the diodes in the low voltage side of the power supply. When I first got it back working, channels 2 through 6 would not tune in. All of the other channels were clear. I found another tuner and that fixed the problem. The safety capacitor had a bad connection where it went through the chassis and connected to wires from the back side. It seems that the ceramic insulator had deteriorated to the point that it was grounding out to the chassis. I bypassed that connection but occasionally there is a loud "POP" coming from the safety capacitor. I will be looking for a replacement capacitor and and I would like to know if anyone else has had similar problems.

  • Is the safety capacitor white or orange?? If white, it's important to replace it before doing anything else, as it can open and cause an unregulated rise in high voltage (as high as 50Kv). The guns have been known to separate from the CRT, or worse, they can implode straight through the screen.
