Lorena Falasco Elementary School is located in Los Banos, California, the west side of the central valley. The school includes 75% Hispanics, 55% English learners and about 75% socioeconomically disadvantaged students. The school motto is "Learning for Everyone" an example of how the school is working to overcome the socio economic challenges their area brings. Literacy at home is sparse in the Los Banos area. To compensate teachers and faculty has started using technology to encourage students.

Technology has become a motivator for the students of Los Banos, captivating and motivating them. With the Letters alive curriculum teachers and faculty have seen it engage those second language learner students and socio economically disadvantage students. For those that may not have many learning opportunities at home, the Letters alive curriculum has created a level playing field. By engaging students with rich technology, students are excited about learning.
