Bury my heart at Wounded Knee - Lyrics

Bury my heart at Wounded Knee
Where a baby's blood was
A soldiers pay
Bury my heart at Wounded Knee
Let it lie with my brother's
Til the judgement day
My people were the earth
And the earth was home
When they stole their land
They stole their bones
Let my people, let my people pass
Crossing over this Jordan is all we ask

Take the eyes of the guns of peace away
My people can't eat promises
But they can pray
Now my blood is flowing back to Tennessee
And my soul is moving in and out of reach
I'm dancing cause I carry my father's seed
And I'm walking on this earth to set my people free
Bury my heart at Wounded Knee

  • Who is the woman at 1:43, and are they at the Academy Awards?

  • I'm never forgetting, and I'm not going to let anyone else forget, either. Peace.

  • @eireman You terribly interpret my statement . LOVE, PEACE, HARMONY, "ARE" among the ULTIMATE AIMS of SPIRIT! Maybe I should have added those famous words.. "IF, we forget the past we are DOOMED to repeat it!" As one of Irish/ Cherokee ancestry.... I KNOW.. what hatred does. Therfore..I am one for bringing about a UNITED IRELAND.. through peaceful dialogue and BELIEVE. that We must work to improve the living conditions of our Native American Brothers and Sisters and etc. In Love/PEACE!

  • @eireman You have stabbed at beauty and reconciliation. Walela sings us a graphic description of what happened that horrible day. Then they move away from the hatred and ugliness that you want us to carry in our hearts. They sing of letting it pass 'til Judgment Day, when God Himself will correct this. They sing of prayer and dancing and returning to the stability of their homes. In their heartbreak, they do not champion the anger and hatred you want us to carry.

  • peace love and respect for all life
